NO TO WAR! WORLD PEACE & DIALOGUE IS THE ANSWER!
Support Education, Health Care, Jobs & Workers Rights!
The 50th Chicano Moratorium Committee is an educational committee comprised of volunteers committed to advancing the history and legacy of the Chicano/Latino civil rights movement, anti- war social welfare advocacy, and human rights in our community. We are in the social struggle to promote peace, justice, liberty, and the right to self-determination. We oppose war, colonialism, racism, and the injustices of using our youth as fodder for war profits.
Consistent with our points of unity to represent the interests of our community against wars, dating back to the Vietnam experience, we denounce the use of violence as inefficient and contrary to the interests of working families who bare the brunt of damages due to international provocations, global power politics, division of territory, and monopoly of resources.
As world powers continue to use nationalism to impose their will through wars, damaging civilian peace from Vietnam to Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Palestine, the Congo, and now Ukraine, it is critical to once again call for a moratorium to the conflicts, demand dialogue and resolution, and in the spirit of the non-aligned nations a commitment to respect sovereignty of nations.
What the government of Russia is currently doing in Ukraine violates our principles and philosophy for peace and self-determination. No country has the right to invade or force their ideology on a sovereign country, no matter what the purported reasons. The working people of Russia are not to be blamed for this war, the Russian leadership who had planned and carried out this invasion are responsible for the atrocities of this war.
We, the 50th Chicano Moratorium Committee, unequivocally oppose war and stand 100% in solidarity with the Ukrainian & Russian working people for an immediate and peaceful resolution. STOP the war NOW! Unidos Venceremos!
